Tikhon Strezhnev<\/p><\/div>\n<h2>Vasily Dolgoruky, the mayor-altruist<\/h2>\n<div>\n<p>1780\u20131782<\/p>\n<p>Military general, sent troops to the Crimea peninsula and annexed to Russia, and was awarded with diamonds and the title of the Crimea by Catherine the Great, but not the rank of Field Marshal. Offended, he resigned. Muscovites especially loved him for festivities which he organized every Sunday near his homestead on the Sparrow Hills.<\/p>\n<p>Lived in a mansion on the corner of Okhotny Ryad and Bolshaya Dmitrovka, which later became the House of Unions, where Russians parted with Stalin.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 509px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/friendlylocalguides.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/Dolgorukov-Krymsky_Vasily_Michailovich-234x300.jpg\" alt=\"Moscow rulers\" width=\"499\" height=\"640\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Moscow Mayors. Dmitry Golitsyn<\/p><\/div>\n<h2>Arseny Zakrevsky, the mayor &#8211; tyrant<\/h2>\n<p>1848-1859<\/p>\n<p>Did not like to follow a law , and sent everybody he found &#8220;misbehaving&#8221; to Siberia. Arseny Zakrevsky<\/p><\/div>\n<h2>Vladimir Dolgorukov, the mayor-favorite<\/h2>\n<p>1865-1891<\/p>\n<p>The supreme marshal at the coronation of Alexander II, and one of the longest one in the post of the head of Moscow &#8211; 26 years. Demolished Christ the Savior Cathedral.
